Motivation Monday featuring Madison Q.

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. This week’s Motivation Monday is featuring someone who motivates me, Ms. Madison Q. aka. Mad Dawg Maddie. Madison is one of the many amazing trainers at Amped Fitness. Her infectious smile and positive personality make it easy to befriend her, while her in depth knowledge of fitness encourages me to always learn from her. I recently had the opportunity to chat with Maddie about her journey and I couldn’t wait to share her motivational words with you all.

Q. Maddie, tell me how you got into fitness. What drew you to this industry?

A. Well, I guess it started when I was 8 years old when I did gymnastics. Then in high school I was involved in many sports. Field Hockey in the Fall, gymnastics still in the Winter, and lacrosse in the Spring.  From then on I caught the bug for fitness!

Q. What motivates you the most both inside and outside of the gym?

A. In the gym, for me it is about mental clarity. It is a way of releasing energy and any baggage that I have. I am really motivated by feeling good and being physically as strong as I can be. Overall it is about living my life to its best. During my workout I think: “am I going to regret this workout?” and “is that other person resting? NO? then let’s go!” I just want to push myself to be better.

Q. What is the best advice you can give to those who are just getting into this fitness thing? What is the best piece of advice you have gotten along the way?

A. Wow! Great question. It would have to be that this is YOUR fitness journey. Don’t compare yourself with anyone else. Take pride in each and every step you take, no matter how small they seem. There are no such things as small accomplishments on this journey. Even from just stepping into the gym, that is better than not showing up at all! Also, remember that NO ONE knows it all. There isn’t any one person who knows everything.

The best piece of advice I have gotten is that you miss 100% of the shots that you don’t take. So take that shot. See what you are capable of! You will undoubtedly surprise yourself.

Q. What are you most passionate about?

A. Optimizing health and well-being of everyone.I just hope to instill confidence in myself and in others. It sounds silly, but instilling that sense of self-worth and making others feel cared about is super important to me. Giving others a sense of purpose gives me purpose. In my past, I struggled with my relationship to food and its so important that I use that experience to help others that struggle with the same thing. I hear so many women who are self deprecating and I just want to instill confidence in them so they know how beautiful they really are. No one’s journey is ever really over, including my own. I am passionate about educating others and letting them know, I understand their insecurities because I have had many of my own. If we can make it through that together, that is really a great thing.

Q. What is your favorite food?

Q. What is your favorite workout move?

A. Easy. Deadlifts.

Q. What is your motivation music?

A. I get motivated by music easily. I like heavy metal, dub step, and hard rock. Metal really gets me pumped though.
